Yolanda Martinez Leon

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, godmother, aunt, sister, and friend, Yolanda M. Leon (77). She peacefully returned home to our Father in heaven on April 25 ^th , 2023 surrounded by love and family. She was born in Mexico City, Mexico. She immigrated to the United States; Tucson, AZ in the early 80's and accomplished her life-long dream of becoming a US Citizen in June 2022.

She was a great, strong and hard working woman her entire life whom inspired and helped many in her lifetime. She fought tooth and nail to provide to her friends and family. She was on her own from a very young age. Working and surviving since she was 9 years old. Yolanda's childhood was not the easiest, but she focused on bringing happiness to others. 12 years ago, she was left wheelchair bound due to an ischemic stroke. She felt uneasy not being able to provide for others.

Yolanda was a wonderful cook, caregiver, and mentor to many that came into her life. She had a love for cooking like no other and shared her food with all. She loved spending time at the Casino and with her grandchildren. She showed everyone unconditional love. She always had an open heart with loving arms for everyone. She was extremely generous and always extended help to anyone in need.  Her love, guidance and her caring ways truly blessed our lives.

Yolanda is survived by her daughter (Reyna), son (Gilbert), granddaughter (Selena), many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, godchildren, sisters, nieces, nephews and many friends that loved her dearly. She is greatly loved and will be significantly missed. God Bless you viejita!

On Tuesday, May 2 ^nd , 2023, viewing will be at 5:00 p.m, recitation of the rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., both will be at Carrillo's Tucson Mortuary. The Funeral Mass will be the following morning, Wednesday, May 3 ^rd , 2023 at 10:00 a.m. @ St. Augustine Cathedral. Following the Mass there will be a celebration of life "Lunner" (2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.) at the family home located 4480 S. Saginaw Hill Drive, Tucson AZ 85746.

Con profunda tristeza, anunciamos el fallecimiento de nuestra amada madre, abuela, bisabuela, madrina, tía, hermana y amiga, Yolanda M. Leon (77). Regresó en paz a casa con nuestro Padre en el cielo el 25 de Abril de 2023, rodeada de amor y familia. Nació en la Ciudad de México, México. Emigró a los Estados Unidos; Tucson, AZ a principios de los años 80 y logró su sueño de toda la vida de convertirse en ciudadana estadounidense en Junio de 2022.

Yolanda fue una gran mujer, fuerte y trabajadora durante toda su vida, quien inspiró y ayudó a muchos en su vida. Luchó con uñas y dientes para mantener a sus amigos y familiares. Estuvo sola desde muy pequeña. Trabajando y sobreviviendo desde los 9 años. La infancia de Yolanda no fue la más fácil, pero se centró en llevar felicidad a los demás. Hace 12 años, quedó atada a una silla de ruedas debido a un accidente cerebrovascular isquémico. Se sentía incómoda por no poder mantener a los demás.

Yolanda fue una maravillosa cocinera, cuidadora y mentora de muchos que llegaron a su vida. Tenía un amor por la cocina como ningún otro y compartía su comida con todos. Le encantaba pasar tiempo en el Casino y con sus nietos. Ella mostró a todos amor incondicional. Ella siempre tuvo un corazón abierto con brazos amorosos para todos. Ella era extremadamente generosa y siempre brindaba ayuda a cualquiera que lo necesitara. Su amor, guía y su forma de cuidar verdaderamente bendijeron nuestras vidas.

A Yolanda le sobreviven su hija (Reyna), hijo (Gilbert), nieta (Selena), muchos otros nietos, bisnietos, ahijados, hermanas, sobrinas, sobrinos y muchos amigos que la querían mucho. Ella es muy querida y se le extrañará mucho. Dios te bendiga viejita! Te amamos!

El Martes, 2do de Mayo de 2023, la velación será a las 5:00 p.m., el rezo del rosario será a las 7:00 p.m., ambos serán en Carrillo's Tucson Mortuary. La Misa de funeral será la mañana siguiente, Miércoles 3ro de Mayo de 2023 a las 10:00 a.m. en la Catedral de San Agustín. Después de la Misa habrá una celebración de vida (2:00 p. m. – 6:00 p. m.) en la casa familiar ubicada en 4480 S. Saginaw Hill Drive, Tucson AZ 85746.
