IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Yolanda T
Gil
October 1, 1930 – June 21, 2024
Yolanda Teresa Gil went to be with our Lord on June 21, 2024. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her family. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandma, Great-Grandma, and Great-Great-Grandma! She was a mother figure to many others. Aunt Yoli was loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and an abundance of friends. She was the eternal optimist, always seeing things on the bright side. One of her favorite sayings was, "It could be worse!"
Yolanda worked most of her life as a school secretary and touched many lives from superintendents and principals down to the students. She loved working in the education system and enjoyed being close to her children who went to the same schools that she worked at! She could keep an eye on them, especially if anyone was sent to the principal's office.
Yolanda was active at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She was a Eucharistic Minister, Secretary for Our Mother of Mercy Praesidium, and Coordinated the 24-hour Adoration for the Chapel at St John's.
Yolanda filled many hearts with love! She loved with all her heart and would always end a visit with, "I love you with all my heart, forever…and ever, Amen!" She embodied a quote from St. Therese of Lisieux:
What matters most in life is not great deeds, but great love.
Thank you, Mom, for your never-ending love!
We love you with all our hearts, forever and ever, Amen!
We will carry you in our hearts always.
Yolanda was preceded in death by her husband, Luis Gil Jr (7-11-22) and is survived by her six children, Landi (Bobby), Roxy, Louie lll (Brenda), Richard (Lupita), Jimmy (Sondra), Phil (Martha), 14 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great-Great Grandson.
For two years, Mom required 24/7 in home care. We could not have accomplished this without the help of our amazing caregivers. They took excellent and loving care of our Mom and we are forever grateful. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Loving thanks to: Lupita, Elisa, Caterina, Angie, Martha, Toni, Ana, Belinda & Betsy. Many thanks to Casa de la Luz Hospice, especially Mekhala. Special thanks to Msgr. Raul, Fr. Bardo, Martha & Lourdes for feeding mom's soul!
In lieu of flowers, a tax-deductible donation can be made to St. John's Catholic School, 600 W. Ajo Way, Tucson, AZ, 85713
