Mr. Viviano A. Leon of Tucson, Arizona passed away on September 6, 2021. Viviano was born on December 23, 1935 in Hayden, Arizona to Viviano Leon, Sr. and Guadalupe Acuna Leon. Viviano grew up in Ray-Sonora, Arizona, spent some time working in California, and then moved to Flagstaff, Arizona to attend Northern Arizona University. He later moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he married Mary Jane Aros on April 15, 1967. Viviano received a Master's Degree in Counseling from Arizona State University. He worked as a vocational rehabilitation counselor for the State of Arizona for 32 years and was an active member of Toastmasters for many years. His most valued accomplishment was his commitment to the Church. He served as a Deacon for the Diocese of Tucson for 25 years. He served at St. James Parish in Coolidge, Arizona, Our Lady of Guadalupe in Canutillo, Texas and St. Augustine Cathedral in Tucson, Arizona. Viviano enjoyed sharing his gifts as a deacon with his family as well, and did many baptisms, funerals and simple visits with his beloved family in the Hayden-Kearny area. He served as a servant leader in his community throughout his life and enjoyed volunteering his time serving others in organizations such as St. Vincent de Paul, Knights of Columbus, and various community food banks.
Viviano was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Leon and sister, Manuela Carrillo and both parents. He is survived by his daughter, Leticia Valdez., son-in-law, Andrew Valdez; daughter, Roseanne Villanueva, son-in-law, Roman Villanueva; seven grandsons, Mark Valdez, Michael Valdez, Gabriel Valdez, Joseph Villanueva, Jacob Villanueva, Jason Villanueva, and Jude Villanueva; and great grandson, Malachi Valdez.
