Violet M. Tapia, age 68, of Tucson, AZ passed away October 1, 2023., surrounded by her family that loved her dearly. Violet is survived by her partner of over 36 years Joe Sanchez, four children, Julian Tapia, Christina Martinez (Ray), Eddie Tapia (Heli), Mark Mendibles (Lucy), many grandchildren and great grandchildren, 5 sisters Victoria, Olga, Gloria, Leticia, and Gina, nieces/nephews, tias/tios, cousins, and numerous family and friends. Violet is preceded in death by her parents Julian and Nellie Tapia,  brother Tony Tapia and sister Maryhelen Olivares.

Violet was born on December 22, 1954 to Julian and Nellie Tapia. Born on the south side she spent most of her life in Tucson. Violet worked for TUSD food service for over 20 years and was proud to say that she had served thousands of students over the years. Violet enjoyed thrift shopping and her love for Chinese culture showed in the beautiful collections she acquired over the years. Violet enjoyed dancing, laughing, and having a good time. Violet was an excellent cook and loved feeding anyone and everyone she could. Even if only cooking for two, her meal could feed an army. This was one of the many ways Violet showed her love.

Violet was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer less than two weeks prior to her passing.  Even after receiving the diagnosis she was calm and at peace. She asked that family remember the good times and told many that there were plenty of memories to choose from. Violet will be missed dearly and our family is grateful to know that she is no longer in pain and finally at peace.
