Obituary

After a valiant fight with testicular cancer our hero, Troy Vicente Iturralde, accepted the hand of Jesus and returned Home January 6, 2022, he was 16.

Troy was born to Tracy Noel Betts Iturralde and Antonio Lopez Iturralde in Tucson, Arizona.  He attended Twin Peaks Elementary school from Kindergarten to 6 th grades, where his mother was ( and is ) a third grade teacher.  Not only was he a proud Twin Peaks Tiger Cub, but an integral part of the very fabric of the school.  He stayed after school each day and formed relationships with Twin Peaks staff and administration while his mom finished her workday.  After 7 years at Twin Peaks, he promoted on to Marana Middle School and ultimately attended Tucson High School "Home of the Badgers", and a proud Badger he was!

Troy was an extremely bright and intellectual young man with a funny sense of humor, excelling in advanced courses at school always striving to get that A.  He was a fierce competitor at all levels, whether on video games, poker ( he loved to play some poker to win big and you would have to watch out for Troy because big he would win! ), sports ( football, soccer, most importantly baseball ), and ultimately cancer.

Throughout his short life, Troy experienced and enjoyed many things.  He enjoyed seafood and loved to travel, notable trips:  Disneyland - multiple times, Disneyworld, Hawaii, the east coast including Connecticut, Vermont, and Washington DC.  He travelled for leisure, as well as for his favorite pastime, baseball.  He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing.  Often, he would fish at the 'catch and release' lake near his grandma and grandpa's house.  This too would become a competitive experience based on who could catch the most fish or the biggest fish, and many of times it would result in frustration or someone getting upset.

Troy loved baseball period; everything about it, most importantly playing it.

Troy often worked with his dad.  It was during this time that Troy learned about the importance of hard work.  He was a protective older brother, always looking out for his little sister and loved teaching his younger brother the game of baseball.

Through his life experiences, Troy formed some strong convictions.  During his final competition, we found his convictions became life lessons for us.  Teaching all, both young and old, about the importance of forgiveness, kindness to everyone, while defending and admiring those who have overcome less fortunate circumstances.  He was a firm believer that hard work yielded results and was constantly reminding all to do the right thing.

Troy forged friendships and appreciated all the love and support he received during his illness.  These friendships, along with the love and support from his family and faith in God helped him thru many of his darkest days.

Troy is survived by his parents, Antonio and Tracy, younger sister, Onnalynn, and brother, Michael, his dog Aikman, his grandparents, God parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Cancer may have taken our Troy's body, but his soul and life teachings will live on forever within those who were blessed to know and love him.
