TIBURCIO BUTTNER MUÑOZ
Tibo passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on August 13, 2025. He was born on September 28, 1936, in Douglas, Arizona, to Eva and Tiburcio Muñoz. We cannot speak about Tibo without talking about our mom, Angie. They were married for over 61 years before her passing and as Mom used to say, "Oh, your dad was such a good dancer." Together they built a home and raised their family with love and guidance. Tibo is survived by his brother Carlos (Susan) and sister Betty (Brian). He is preceded in death by his brother Augustine and sister Julia. He is survived by his children, Mark (Bridgette), Michael (Carol), Veronica (Eligio) and Angela. Tibo was a loving and proud Tata to Michael (Sabrina), Ryan, Monique, Steven (Leah), Gabriela (Xavier), Jacob, Zachary, Alyssa, Joseph & Marie, as well as his great-grandchildren, Makxon, Izaiah, Luis, Lina & Zane. He is survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. After graduating from Douglas High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After his service, he returned home to Pirtleville and then ventured toward Tucson with only $5.00 in his pocket and as he used to say, "$2.00 was for gas and $3.00 for beer." Tibo worked as a painter and bricklayer before joining the Tucson Police Department serving over 20 years with commitment and dedication. He continued a career in law enforcement with the State of Arizona and DEA. He was involved in social clubs such as the Belmonts, Club Cuauhtemoc, the Fraternal Order of Police, American Legion #68 and The Lions Club. Tibo enjoyed home improvement projects, golfing, family gatherings, family reunions, storytelling and researching his family genealogy. He also enjoyed a good bowl of ice cream. Dad and Mom enjoyed cheering on the Arizona Wildcats, dancing, music and traveling. We know that Mom & Dad are now together again dancing the Jitterbug. Our dad will be deeply missed.
