Obituary

Thomas A. Gutierrez, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on July 1, 1948 in Miami, Arizona to Tomas M. & Sophie A. Gutierrez, the first of 3 children.  Moving to Tucson at a young age he attended schools in the Amphitheater School District.  He went on to attend the University of Arizona, receiving his Bachelor's degree in 1973, Master's degree in 1976 and Administration Certification in 1986. He dedicated his life to teach, coach and mentor students through his various positions for 40 years within the Tucson community school districts.

He met his lifelong partner, Charlene, at the U of A and they were married August 24, 1973.  They have three sons T. Anthony Sr., Roland and Marc.  He originally retired June 2003, however he reentered the classroom 3 months later and taught for 6 more years.  Finally in June 2009 he retired once again to be a stay at home Tata babysitting his "Keon".  Tommy, you asked me to share your greatest legacy which I will, but what you have to know is that to US you are and were the legacy that we are all extremely proud of; our family could not have had a greater father or tata than you.  Love you babe, "Sopa de Arroz"

Survived by Spouse, Charlene; Children, T. Anthony Sr. (Chelsea) Roland (Juliette) and Marc (Starla) Gutierrez; Grandchildren, T. Anthony Jr. (Megan), Makayla, Kailey, Jalen, Keon, Angelo, Giovanni, Airamee Gutierrez; Great Grandchildren, Mila Grace & baby Elijah Thomas Gutierrez due in September; Sisters, Dorothy Ngan, Gloria Gutierrez and Eva Abrizo (Joe deceased), special sister-in-law Marta P Sandoval (Karen).

Preceded in death by his parents, Tomas & Sophie Gutierrez.

Survived by three very special women whom he loved very much Yvette Valenzuela, Regina "Gina" Yturralde, and Melanie Garcia.  The many cousins, nieces and nephews he loved, the family & friends he enjoyed traveling with Andy & Delma, Dave & Melva, Charlie & Diane and Phil & Jenny "thanks for the memories."  Eric (Tina) Evans, thank you for the time spent with us and becoming part of the family.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Tom's memory to Special Olympics.
