IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas Jesus
Estrada
November 4, 1939 – May 2, 2023
Thomas "Tommy" Jesus Estrada died May 2 at Tucson Medical Center of heart failure after a lengthy illness. He was much loved by his wife, Olga Emma Acu ñ a Estrada, who was with him when he died, and his extended family.
Tommy was in poor health for many years but he never complained and always maintained a sense of humor - with little quips when you least expected it. He handled himself with dignity and grace always. In his younger days, he was a sharp dresser, who kept his shoes, even his black tennies, shined to a high gloss, and wore his pants with a sharp crease, even jeans. He always smelled nice, with Old Spice being his favorite back in the days.
Before retiring, he was the Property Appraisal Manager at the Pima County Tax Assessor's Office, where his colleagues called him, without any irony, Mr. Wonderful. He kept a drawer full of Crown Royal, and other employees stopped by his office every Friday for an early happy hour shot. They truly loved him because he was fun, kind and considerate. He kept working part time during peak times after he retired for only minimum wage because he loved his work and colleagues.
He and his wife didn't have any children, but for many years, Tommy coached girls' softball, boys' little league, and then adult softball. Tommy and Olga also had three dogs over the years, each one named T.J. after their human dad, Tommy.
He was a graduate of Tucson High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps for a two-year enlistment and then in the reserves. He was very proud of his service and had about a dozen hats and caps with Marine insignia around the house.
He was a good man, adored his wife, and loved his nieces and nephews and extended family. He is survived by Olga and other members of his extended family.
