IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Steve P
Mejia
June 23, 1955 – February 4, 2025
Beloved Husband, Father, and Tata, Steve Mejia's love for his family didn't come to an end with his death. Steve was taken from us too soon, at the age of 69 at St. Joseph's Hospital, after his courageous battle with his health came to an unexpected end on February 4th, 2025. He was surrounded by his loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives the way he taught them to.
Steve, born in Tucson, Arizona on June 23rd, 1955, graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1973 and pursued a 36 year long career with the City of Tucson. He went on to work at Summit View Elementary, further establishing himself as an integral part of his community. Steve's greatest pride was in his family, whether it be by blood or choice, and he shared his passion for them through the wisdom and care he gave to anyone that needed it.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Steve. His perfect day consisted of tending to his house, beloved pets, and enjoying the outdoors and his home. During a perfect sunny day, you could always find him sitting in the sun with his favorite songs playing, ready to answer any question you had for him. His unending wisdom, patience, and knowledge touched anyone's heart that met him. Steve was preceded in death by his Parents, Jose and Refugio Mejia, and his two Sisters, Yolanda Arriola and Ana Delia Cruz. He is survived by his beautiful Wife, Terrie Mejia, his Children, Dominic (Rachel) Mejia, Francisco Mejia, Ana Rosa (Antonio) Polanco, and Yolanda Mejia, as well as his 13 beloved Grandchildren, and Sister, Cecilia (Danny) Gamboa.
We as a family would like to thank the team at St. Joseph's Hospital who cared for Steve in his last days, as well as all those who have sent their well wishes and prayers. Dad, thank you for all you gave and did for us. You were the best man, father, and tata we could have ever been blessed with. We will love and miss you always.
