Rosanna R. Quihuis, 61, passed away peacefully on August 31st, 2026 after a hard fought battle with cancer, surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Rene Quihuis, daughter and son-in-law, Stefani and Hector Flores, her Grandson, Diego, her father, Jose “Coy” Romo, and her brothers and sisters, Maria Anita Stacy, Patsy Nerini, Joe Romo, Ernie Romo, and Rene Romo. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dora Romo.

Rosanna had a long and meaningful career as an early childhood educator, dedicating more than 30 years to El Rio Daycare before spending the last several years at Grijalva Elementary. Even after her cancer diagnosis, she continued working and remained committed to the children and families she supported. Throughout her career she made a lasting impact on generations of children and their families in the Tucson community.

Above all, Rosanna’s family and friends were the most important part of her life. She was a caring daughter, loving wife, amazing mother, supportive sister, and an especially amazing grandma. She proudly took on the title of Nana Banana, and loved showing off her grandson.

Mom had a way of making everyone feel welcome, whether it was opening her home and offering a cup of coffee, cheering from the stands for her many nieces and nephews, celebrating the important milestones of those she loved, or simply being a phone call or text away whenever she was needed.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those who were fortunate enough to know and love her. Her memory will live on through the people she loved, and the many lives she made brighter simply by being part of them.

Our family would like to extend a heartfelt and special thank you to Jeanette Gomez and Melissa Norzagaray, whose friendship and unwavering support meant so much to my mom throughout her journey. From sitting beside her during her chemotherapy treatments, to making sure her hair was always flawless, to simply being there whenever she needed them, their love, kindness, and dependability brought comfort and joy during some of the most difficult times.

Lastly, we would also like to extend our deepest appreciation to Harmony Hospice for the compassion, kindness, and gentle care they provided to my mom and our family.
