Tucson-Rosamaria C. Diaz, 76, of Tucson passed away peacefully at home on June 28, 2026.
Rosamaria was born on August 26, 1949 in Casa Grande, Arizona. She resided in Tucson, but also lived in Eloy during elementary and high school years.
Rosamaria was an advocate for families, children’s and women’s health initiatives. As a member and Manager of Pima County Community Action Agency for over 25 years, she worked tirelessly and diligently to help ensure that needs were met. She served as the Manager for many years during this time, prior to her retirement. She was on the State Board of Directors for the Arizona Community Action Association and served as the President for 9 years. She was a woman of many talents and was in many organizations that served her community, including being a City of Tucson and State Commissioner for Bobby Sox softball.
Rosamaria is survived by Santiago Diaz; her son Javier Diaz and stepchildren Aurora Diaz and Yolanda Diaz. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Michelle, Erica, Jose, Angel and Patrick; her great-grandchildren and the loves of her life, Yaritza, Mark, Marciano, Yaniz, Marilin, Xilena Luz and Andres, all of Tucson. She is also survived by her sisters, Cinnamon Jimenez of Eloy and Diana Salazar of Casa Grande; brothers Gus Salazar Jr. of Casa Grande and Ben Salazar of Tennessee; her Aunts and Uncle whom she considered siblings, Margaret Salazar, Carolina Butler, Irma Romero, Nancy Butler and Elias Castillo Jr.
Rosamaria was preceded in death by her mother Frances Salazar, grandparents Elias and Rosaura Castillo, her son Armando Rios Jr., her daughter Amanda Rios, and stepsons Jimmy and Marcos Diaz.
