IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald Dean
Ballard
February 14, 1954 – March 4, 2025
Ronald "Ron" Ballard passed away peacefully on March 4, 2025, at 71 years of age. Ron was born on February 14, 1954, in Anaheim, California, and was raised by his adoptive parents, Vaughn and Gladys Ballard.
Ron grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, and was a proud Cornhusker. After attending the University of Nebraska and Creighton University, he moved to Tucson, Arizona, to escape shoveling snow. Ron served his country in the Air Force, Army, and Air National Guard, earning a Purple Heart for his valor during the Vietnam War. Dedicated to helping those in need, he pursued a career as a first responder after his military service. As a paramedic and firefighter, he risked his own safety to protect others and demonstrated strong leadership, ultimately rising to the rank of fire chief.
Ron was passionate about jazz music and airplanes. He collected vinyl records and military and fire memorabilia, but nothing made him happier than eating barbecued ribs and watching the Cornhuskers take on their rivals. He enjoyed spending time in his workshop and dipping his toes in the swimming pool on hot Tucson afternoons.
Ron is survived by his wife of 27 years, Andrea Ballard; his children, David, Kyla and Katie; and his stepson, Kyle. He is also survived by his sister, Donna Sopcich, and her son, Christopher, as well as his father-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and nephews.
Ron will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this time.
