Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Roger David Wickstrom, age 83, on April 2, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona. He was born in Hot Springs, South Dakota on November 20, 1942. Roger was preceded in death by his parents Marjorie Hall and Leonard Wickstrom and his sister Barbara Steed. He is survived by his wife Carlota Zuzuárregui; children from a former marriage: Stefanie Daye Wickstrom and Matthew George Wickstrom; grandson Micah Keith Wirth; sister Patricia Sondgroth and sister-in-law Sandra Taylor; niece Tracy Sondgroth; and nephew Jason Sondgroth.

Roger came into Carlota’s family after meeting and marrying her on July 23, 1999. He started coming to the Zuzuárregui family events and got to know immediate and extended family members. He made friends with everyone and was well-loved by all.

Roger proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a medic in Frankfurt, Germany. He graduated from The University of Arizona in Tucson in Business Administration/Accounting. He worked in Alaska for many years as an accountant, as well as in Phoenix and Tucson. He learned how to fly small aircraft and became a trainer for flying helicopters. Later in life he built his own business, Media Watch, in the field of media monitoring that he ran for many years.

Roger will be sadly missed. May he rest in eternal peace.
