Roberto G.
Garcia
August 13, 1928 – October 16, 2018
Roberto G. Garcia, our loving father passed away peacefully on October 16, 2018. He was 90 years old. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Ernestina Portillo Garcia and his sisters Evita G. Velasco, Lupe Garcia, Berta Garcia and Enriquetta Garcia. He is survived by his brothers Miguel Garcia, Enrique Garcia and sister Irma G. Gutierrez, and his children Laura G. Jamison (Jim), Teresa Garcia, Margarita Garcia, Roberto Garcia (Angela), and granddaughters Rosa and Alexa Garcia.
Dad was born in Valle De Olivos, Chihuahua, Mexico on August 13, 1928. My father once told me the story of when the Spaniards came to the valley centuries ago, they planted hundreds of Olive trees, but by the time he was born, there wasn't a single olive tree left.
Dad was not a great scholar nor was he a man with words of great wisdom, but we always knew he loved us and we always felt his love. It was rare not to see him smiling when approached. His sense of humor was wonderful and when he told a joke it took him what seemed like forever to get to the punch line, but he always had his family laughing even before the joke ended. Those who knew him loved him. He loved music, his guitar, nature, and had a fascination for the moon and the stars.
Our family would like to thank all the angels at Casa De La Luz Hospice, especially Daniel, Mark and Gem for their constant care, support and love. They made dad's journey to heaven much lighter.
