Robert passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. He was a native Tucsonan and a Tucson High graduate. Robert is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Adela Borboa, his parents, Arcadio and Manuela Borboa, and siblings, Sister Mary Pierre, Josephine "Pina" Marquez (Benny +), Arcadio "Callo" Borboa (Barbara), Isabel "Jyme" McPherson, Mike Borboa (Socorro +), Raul Borboa, and George Borboa (Mary). He is survived by his son, Robert Borboa (Olga) and daughter, Yolanda Borboa, and his four grandchildren, Alexandra Borboa and Vanessa Borboa and Gabriel Borboa and Victoria Peña. His siblings Enrique Borboa (Marva) and Mary Ornelia (Felix) and many nephews and nieces. Robert served in the United States Marine Corps, was drafted and sent to Korea. He served as an ammunition carrier for a unit of the First Marine Division in Hagaru, Korea. During his time in the Marines, he was awarded a Purple Heart after he suffered frostbite on his hands and feet. Robert worked for the Tucson Newspaper and retired after 45 years. He loved and enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandkids. Robert loved to get together and play poker with his brothers and family. His favorite pastimes were watching baseball/football games, war movies, animal shows, and airplanes. He especially loved to go see the airshows by the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angels. Robert will be truly missed. Visitation will be held from 8:00 am to 9:30 am, Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Carrillo's Tucson Mortuary South Chapel, 240 S Stone Ave. A rosary will be recited Tuesday, January 7, 2025, 10:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church, 300 S. Tucson Blvd. Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Holy Hope Cemetery.
