IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Delsid
Villelas
May 23, 1938 – January 18, 2021
Richard Delsid Villelas, Sr., 82, passed on January 18, 2021. He is predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Gloria; his eldest son, Richard (Yolanda); his great-granddaughter, R'mia; his brothers, Manuel (Delia) and Rafael (Dina); his sisters, Eulalia (Salvador) and Estella; and his parents, Manuel and Consuelo. He is survived by his three children, Robert (Terry), Kim (Orlando), and Gina (Michael); his sister, Hortencia (Augustine) and Theodora (Ray); and his 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was baptized on April 10, 1955 at the age of 16 at Sabino Canyon along with his sister Laly. He was actively involved with his church, Asemblea Apostólica de la Fe en Cristo Jesús, which he loved to help. He even assisted in the construction of the new dining hall in his current church Bethesda Apostolic.
A Tucson native, he was a true patriot and served in the United States Navy from the age of 16 until 1969. In his travels in the Navy he got to sail through where the prime meridian and equator intersect. He then continued the serve in the U.S. Naval Reserves before going on to work for The City of Tucson for 40 years.
He loved cooking, watching football and the news, talking to strangers, and above all, spending time with his family. He had an active social life and was more often found zipping around Tucson than sitting still at home. He took great pleasure in touring his family throughout the U.S., and he took his beloved wife on an Alaskan road trips annually.
He was always a source of laughter, comfort, and a good story. He will be missed dearly by his friends and family.
