IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard L.
Gomez
August 21, 1939 – September 14, 2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. Richard L. Gomez, beloved husband,
brother, father, grandfather, devoted Catholic, and Navy veteran who passed away peacefully
and surrounded by loved ones on September 14, 2024 at the age of 85.
He was born on August 21, 1939 in Tucson, AZ, the loving son of Julio B. and Edith F. Gomez.
Richard is survived by his wife Rosemary L. Gomez, to whom he was a devoted husband and
with whom he shared 45 years of love, laughter, and devotion. Together, they built a life filled
with faith, love, and strong family values. Richard is also survived by his sister Rosemary
Herran, loving children, Richard C. Gomez (Maria), Vanessa Zepeda (Arturo) and Lisa Gomez,
and cherished grandchildren, Hector "Bubba" Zepeda III (Ashley), Mia Zepeda (Lucio) and
Carlos "Carlitos" Mesa who were his pride and joy.
Dr. Gomez proudly built his practice where he worked as a dentist for over 30 years. He was
highly respected for his integrity, work ethic, and kindness, and was often known to whistle while
he worked. He cared sincerely for those he served and many of his patients became friends and
even family.
His unwavering faith and love of family were evident in everything he did. He was a man of
humility, kindness, and generosity, always finding time to help those in need and there was
nothing he couldn't fix. He left a lasting impression on anyone he met. A proud U of A Wildcat, an avid
San Francisco 49er fan, a man of great honor, a hero to his family, cherished by many and loved
by all. He lived his life to the fullest, he loved with all his heart and his presence will be deeply
missed.
The family will receive friends and family at Carrillo's Mortuary South Chapel on Saturday
