Richard P Chagnon, born June 30th 1945 in Meriden CT, passed peacefully surrounded by family on May 30th 2025.

He is survived by his bride of 54 years, Rebecca A Chagnon, his daughter Michelle Carrillo (Christos), his son Brian Chagnon (Juan), his two sisters - Jacqui Rumpf and Bevi Chagnon, his niece Miranda Rumpf, his two grandchildren - Karise Curtis (Cori), Alex Carrillo (Heather), and three great grandchildren - Ravyn Carrillo, Isaac Curtis, and Athena Carrillo.

Rick grew up in Connecticut, coming to Tucson for college before settling there after meeting Becky at the UofA. He obtained a degree in Hydrology and Geology from the UofA and a master's in Business Administration. While at college, he formed the group LINK at the UofA, which served the poorer communities in the Tucson area. He was a volunteer hotshot during the summers and went to Peru after the major earthquake in the 70s to help rebuild their water system.

Rick was a hydrologist for many years - first with the city of Tucson, then the Navajo reservation, then Johnson Screen, and finally Howard Johnson. Later in life, he became a tax preparer and a financial advisor to many. He also served on numerous boards like SAVAII and Our Family.

His loves in life, besides his wife, were his children, grandchildren, and great-children.  He loved his daily calls with his family. A certified Master Gardener, he would spend hours in his garden. He found peace in his sanctuary surrounded by his Koi, his flowers, and his garden.
