IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ray
Carrillo
June 6, 1958 – May 9, 2025
Ray Robert Carrillo Sr., best known as "one of the cuates from 32nd Street," passed away on May 9, 2025. He is survived by his devoted family: his son Ray "JR" Carrillo Jr. and daughter-in-law Monique; his daughter Amanda and son-in-law Mike Sausa; and his greatest pride and joy—his grandchildren Angelica, Ray Ray, Mateo, Michael, and Miles. Ray is reunited in peace with his beloved wife Virginia (2016), his parents, and his brother.
Ray was born on June 6, 1958, in Tucson, Arizona, and spent most of his life in the City of South Tucson. He attended Holiday, Utterback, and Pueblo High School, graduating with the Class of 1977. His love for school extended beyond his own education—he dedicated 30 years to the Tucson Unified School District as a custodial engineer, serving campuses including Old Davis, Roskruge (where he spent much of his career), and Booth-Fickett.
In retirement, Ray enjoyed 16 years filled with dancing to country and Tejano music, but what he cherished most was spending time with his grandchildren, children, and friends—reminiscing and sharing stories of the good old days. He will be remembered most for his kindness, generosity, and his contagious smile that lit up every room.
