IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Randolph Benavides
Peña
July 26, 1953 – December 18, 2025
Randolph Benavides Pena passed away December 18, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 72. Born in Silver City, NM to Albert and Cesaria Pena, he grew up in Tucson and graduated from Pueblo High School in 1971. He moved to Ajo, AZ in 1988 with his wife and family. He contributed to the Ajo community through his work as a mechanic, welder, and as a knowledgeable retailer at the local hardware store. Though he was a man of all trades, his true skill was as a welder and many of his beautiful ironworks can be seen throughout Ajo and Tucson. He was a parishioner at the Immaculate Conception Church in Ajo and a member of the Knights of Columbus. "Geepa," as he was known to his loving family, was always able and willing to help family, friends, and even strangers with home repairs, car repairs/maintenance, and fixing or building whatever needed to be worked on. Any of his neighbors know he loved listening to his Motown music at high decibels, and his friends and family know he loved his sweets, especially donuts. But he especially loved spending time with his family, his children and grandchildren who brought him such joy. His infectious and boisterous laughter will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Cesaria Pena; his siblings, Hortencia Trejo, Isabel Herrera, Albert Pena, Jr., Nestor "Copper" Pena, Richard Pena, and Alma Gonzalez, and by his mother-in-law, Maria Pena.
He is survived by his spouse, Dolores V. Pena; his daughters, Tara Maya (Jesse) and Eva Pena (Lori); his grandchildren, Jasmine, Alexandria, Karisma, and Martine and his great-grandchildren, Isaac, Iola, Annalise, and Sagan. He is also survived by his siblings, David Pena (Diana), Basil Pena (Faye), and Marie Theresa Schultz (Dennis).
