Mercedes R
Quintero
September 24, 1927 – August 27, 2019
Mercedes R. Quintero, At the young age of 91 our mother returned home into the loving arms of her savior. She was surrounded by her loving family when she started her journey home on August 27, 2019. She was born on September 24, 1927 in Cumpas, Sonora Mexico.
She is preceded by her husband, Fernando; eldest daughter, Petra Maria and granddaughter, Celina as well as her parents, and all brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sons, Martin (Blanca) Fernando Jr. (Lydia); Daughters, Socorro(Jose) Leticia (Roy) and Manuela. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Roxayne (Brian) Fernando IV (Amanda) Martin Jr. (Megan) Marissa, Nydia (Curtis) Joseph, Orlando (Kelsee) Stephanie, Xavier (Megan) Krysta, Georgina, Roy II and Isabela; 9 great- grandchildren, Gabby, Belle, Neveyah, Julianna, Aria, Gabriel, Alexander Paul, Ayden and Sophia. She was also blessed to have been Nana to Jesse Ramirez (Maria) and Alexandria Hardy (Chris). She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and a large extended family and her companion Chiquita.
Our mother was orphaned at a very young age. In spite of her struggles and lack of parental example she was able to pour her self into raising her family very successfully. She was a wonderful seamstress to many, babysat children while still sewing, cooking and tending to her husband and family. She did the best she could do with what she had and accomplished raising her family and yet still leaving and imprint in the lives of so many others that she took in as family. She always worried that you would leave her home without eating or at least having a cup of coffee. She was known for always having a beautiful, colorful garden. Her garden was her peace and joy.
Her legacy will live on in all of us her family. Her passing closes the door to a whole generation as she was the last. She will be deeply missed.
We would like to especially THANK her care takers Chata, Cecilia and Fernanda for the love and care they provided our mom. We would also like to thank Casa De La Luz hospice and her nurse Rachel for all the support we received.
Our mother was of strong faith and no one ever left her home without a blessing, stranger or not. In her words " Dios que los bendiga y llene de bendiciones y que la virgin santisima los cubra con su manto"
