Mercedes Preciado Figueroa July 23, 1926 - February 6, 2023

Mercedes, 96 was born and a raised in Carbo, Sonora. She moved to Tucson in 1951 when she met the love of her life Tony Figueroa. There in Tucson they built a life full of love and raised their three children, Tony Jr., Maria, and Roxana. Their home on South 2nd Avenue was always and will forever be the nucleus for every holiday and life event the Figueroa family hosted.

Mercedes was a devote Catholic and attended mass at St. Augustine Cathedral every Sunday and prayed the rosary daily. Special thanks to Hortencia Moreno who kept vigil and would pray with her daily and Blanquita, who would administer communion at her home in her final years.

Mercedes is preceded in death by her husband, Tony Figueroa. She is survived by her three children; Tony Jr. (Rosa Maria) Figueroa, Maria (Dickey) Miranda and Roxana Moreno; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Amanda Fimbres; brother-in-law Juan (Patricia) Figueroa, sisters in law Francis Sepulveda and Maria Louisa Collins; countless cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Rosary and mass will be held on Wednesday, February 15th at 9:30am at St. Augustine's Cathedral, with burial to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Special thanks to Mari Grano for taking care of both Tony & Mercedes for over ten years; Fr. Gonzalo and Peppi's House – TMC Hospice for their support during this time of transition.
