Obituary

Mary Louise "Tita" Zavala passed away January 11, 2025. She was born in Curtiss, AZ in March 1927 and grew up in Benson, AZ during, according to her, the town's heyday. She was a graduate of Benson High and a proud Bobcat. She enjoyed attending dances and visiting the natural artesian wells.

She married Toribio "Tavo" Zavala in 1946 and they made their home in Tucson. She attended Lamson Business College and after completing her courses was employed as a secretary at the Crippled Children's Clinic. Tita was a founding member of the Club Arco Iris, a social and philanthropic club. She was a cheerful woman, always dancing to or singing big band songs.

Tita was a small business owner, founding Tavo's Electric Company with her husband. She managed the company's business, hiring, and contracts. As Tucson grew so did their successful business.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Rufina Felix, her husband Tavo Zavala, and her sisters Esther Ochoa and Bodie Gallego. She is survived by her daughters Rebecca (Frank) Barraza, Margaret (Eric) Craine, and Christine (Walter) Zavala-Parry, her grandchildren Daniel (Hannah) Barraza, Anna Barraza, Patrick Craine, Jennifer (Jeff) DeBenedetti, and Erin Craine, as well as her great-grandchildren Ava, Danny, Ryan, and Toribio.

Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Via Elegante, who cared for her during her final years.

Tita will be remembered as an intelligent, hardworking and fun lady. She was much loved and loved much!
