Maria Antonietta was the youngest of the 12 Paz children. Antonio Pacheco was a boy she knew from the public schools, Ochoa and Safford. Tony Pacheco was from the Cathedral parish barrio called Membrio. Later his family lived on 8th Avenue near 28th Street. He has a brother Ruben who still lives there in the old family home.

Tony and Maria Antonietta were married at Santa Cruz by Fr. Eliseo in November of 1958. For a short time they lived in their own apartment. But Maria Antonietta's mother Guadalupe cried for her youngest child and wanted her to move back home with her new husband. Tony Paz agreed to build a new house in the back where he and Guadalupe would live. Everyone was happy with the arrangement.

Tony got along well with Tony. At some point Maria Antonietta started to be called Tony, too. There certainly seemed to be too many Tony's but everyone lived in peace at the Paz house.

Tony and Tony had two children of their own, Albert and Dianna. Albert was born in 1960 and Dianna in 1971.

Dianna went to Santa Cruz School. Meanwhile, Maria Antonietta took care of her home and her ageing parents while her husband worked for the City of Tucson, Parks and Recreation. Guadalupe died in 1972. Tony Paz who had been a hard working man all his life died in 1992 at the age of 98. He never drank or smoked. Dianna married later that year and moved out as her brother had already done some years before. Dianna still returns home every day with her two year old Stephen. There is a lot of heritage connected with the old adobe home on 29th Street.

And the Pacheco-Paz family is part of the fabric of Santa Cruz's 76 year history.
