Mercer

Mary Ellen (McLeod) Mercer was tragically taken from us in a sudden accident on January 24, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona. Affectionately known as Ellen, she was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was defined by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God.
Ellen lived a life of service, dedicating herself to others in countless ways. As the Director of Counseling at Marian University, she guided and supported many. She had a passion for working with the unhoused and selflessly devoted her time and energy to those in need through various charitable organizations. Beyond her work, she had a deep love for her family and community. She enjoyed hiking with her husband, Ben, singing in the choir at Most Holy Trinity and spending time with her granddaughter. Ellen was also an accomplished pianist with a passion for the arts.
She was proceeded in death by her mother Martha McLeod, father Charles McLeod and sister Maryann (Ronald) Reichley. Ellen is survived by her husband Benjamin Mercer, daughter Susan (Austin) Hagerty, granddaughter Margaret Hagerty, brother Michael McLeod, and sister Katie (Drew) Whitlock
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and an enthusiastic supporter of The Ohio State Buckeyes. Her legacy is one of kindness, faith, and generosity, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
