In Loving Memory of Martha Patricia Pesqueira
July 12, 1948 – March 31, 2025
Martha Patricia Pesqueira, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on March 31, 2025, in Vail, Arizona, at the age of 76.
Born on July 12, 1948, in Hermosillo, Sonora, Martha moved to Tucson, Arizona at the age of 16 with her family, beginning a new chapter that would be filled with love, laughter, and devotion to those around her. She retired from the Arizona State Corporation Commission in 2008, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and integrity.
A devoted Catholic, Martha lived her faith with grace and humility. Her life was guided by love, service, and compassion—a reflection of her deep spirituality.
Martha will be remembered for her incredible cooking and baking—meals that brought people together and made every gathering special. She had a sharp wit, a wonderful sense of humor, and an endless capacity to love and support her children and grandchildren. Her presence was a source of comfort, her words always full of encouragement, and her home a place of warmth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Socorro and Antonio Quiroz. She is survived by her loving children: Martha A. Jones (Steve), Marco A. Pesqueira (Luz Maria Johansen), and Marisela A. Pesqueira. She was the cherished grandmother of Xavier Estevan Jones and Emiliano Alberto Jones, who brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her former spouse, Mario A. Pesqueira; her five siblings: Sara (Robert F), Adela (Robert M), Antonio (Sylvia), Alejandro (Blanca), and Francisco (Evelyn); and many nieces and nephews who adored her.
Services will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Carrillo's Mortuary, with visitation beginning at 8:00 a.m., followed by the Rosary at 9:30 a.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Santa Monica Catholic Church, 212 W. Medina Rd., Tucson, AZ 85756. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N. Oracle Rd., Tucson, AZ 85705.
Martha's spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her love was a steady light, her laughter unforgettable, and her memory will be cherished always.
