Maria Marta V. Montaño, 89, was born & raised in Tucson, AZ and passed away November 27, 2025.
Preceded in death by her husband of 56 yrs, Benigno "Benny" Montaño, her daughter Amanda Hermosa, parents Loreto Vasquez Jr. & Maria Vasquez, brother Loreto Vasquez III, and sister Amelia Obregon.
Survived by children: Ben Montaño, Leticia (Mike) Mata, Mark Montaño, & Laura (Hector) Godoy.
Grandchildren: Edward (Linda), Carlos (Mindy), Benjamin, Jose (Nena), Jacquelyn, Alexander (Kylee), Valerie (Angel), Angelica (Edward), Rosemarie (Brandon), Enedina (Branden), Cassandra, Miguel, & Aden.
Great-Grandchildren: Jude, Odette, Emma, Philip, Allie, Inez, Esmi, Amais, Emilio, Breseiles, Theo & Andre.
Martha retired from the Sunnyside Unified School District as a bilingual teacher's assistant, where she made a positive impact on the students she worked with. She was also actively involved with the Sunnyside Education Association & National Education Association in which she attended conferences in different parts of the country.
She loved traveling, going to casinos, Broadway shows, shopping, the movies, the Pima County Fair and meeting her friends for lunches. She never missed her favorite shows like Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Dancing With the Stars & The View. She was also a rowdy fan at Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Wildcat football games.
Martha was a woman of great spirit and loving character, whose friendships were a true light in her life. Her infectious smile and positive disposition brought joy to everyone she encountered. She leaves behind a legacy of caring, love, and she will be missed beyond measure by her family and dear friends.
