IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Martha E.
Kalak
December 27, 1938 – December 13, 2023
Martha Elena Rodriguez Kalak
December 27, 1938 – December 13, 2023
Martha R. Kalak was called home to our Lord on Wednesday, December 13th, 2023.
She was born on December 27th, 1938, in Santa Cruz Sonora, Mexico, to her loving parents Trinidad & Maria Antoñia Rodriguez De La Rosa. The third born of 14 siblings, Martha helped in taking care of her brothers & sisters. Eventually moving to Nogales, Sonora in her adolescence, attending grade school and later on working as a secretary in a business office. Martha loved to dance, and those who knew her as a young woman often talked about her love of music and movement. She was a friend to many, and was described as "determined, independent, beautiful, sincere and a dreamer". In her early 20's she relocated to Tucson, Arizona where she worked at a Veterinary office for almost two decades.
On November 16, 1970 Martha welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world: Lisa Catherine Rodriguez.
Four years later, she married the love of her life Charles "Roy" Kalak. This was the start of an almost 50- year love story. Together they went on to having a successful jewelry business by the name of "Canyon State Jewelers", which led them to travelling around the United States. They also enjoyed their annual trips to Kino Bay with family.
Martha R. Kalak was an amazing mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. Nana 'Mana" loved and cherished her grandchildren unconditionally. She devoted many years to nurturing, admiring and supporting them. Thank you, Nana for everything you did for us. We love you and will miss you always.
Martha is survived by her daughter Lisa Mares (Chris), her grandchildren Christopher (Jaylene), Alexia (Christin), and Julian Mares. Her three beautiful great-granddaughters Ariana, Brisza and Isabella. She is also survived by two brothers, four sisters, nieces, nephews and many family & friends. May her soul find everlasting peace and her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles "Roy" Kalak, her parents Trinidad & Maria Antoñia, five brothers and two sisters.
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
