Obituary

Martha Molina Fimbres -born July 29,1933 in Los Angeles, CA.

If it's true a well lived life is one filled with love, joy, and service to others-well then no one lived better than our Mom.

She moved to Tucson as a young girl, and Tucson is where she met and married her soulmate, Carlos, and together they raised five daughters.
When Carlos sustained injuries in an accident, Martha went back to school and got her college degree.  She furthered her education again by continuing on to get her Masters in Social Work, commuting 4 hours a day, 2 days a week to Arizona State. This was our Mom in a nutshell. No barrier was too large and no sacrifice too great to make for her family.  And Martha thrived in her career- as a faculty member at the UofA for many years, and later in her private practice.  She was elected National President of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), a position that brought her to the White House-not once, but twice.  And though she was a lifelong Democrat, her pride at meeting and having lunch with then President Reagan could not be disguised!
She loved her career so much that she carried on with her private practice well into her eighties.

During their later years Mom and Dad travelled the world.  They had wonderful memories of trips to Europe and Asia, and Martha continued her travels after Carlos was gone, fulfilling a bucket list item of visiting Cuba. She was thrilled to find out Beyoncé  and Beyoncé's husband (what she called Jay-Z!) were there at the same time as her!

She had so much joy in living life, but nothing brought her more happiness than being with her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Anna Fimbres-Windley (David), Christina Fimbres, Vanessa Seaney (James), Jacqueline Barrios (Carlos), Michele McCabe (Joseph) , her grandchildren, Elisha, Gerard, Amanda, Aidan, Connor, Mia, Caroline, and Olivia, and her 4 great-grandchildren.  Her Grandson Samuel Seaney preceded her to Heaven.

Martha passed away peacefully 3 days after her 89th birthday. And though we are devastated by this loss, we know as sure as the sun will come up tomorrow, that she was greeted on the other side by her Carlos.  With open arms, and perhaps Vicente Fernandez playing, they are together again.
The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation and gratitude to Casa de la Luz hospice for their unwavering support and exceptional care of our beloved Mom during her final days.
