Obituary

Mario Alberto Piña (73) passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

Born on April 22, 1953, in Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico, he was the son of Heligardo and Lucrecia Piña. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Mario found his greatest joy in life in his family. He shared a loving and lasting marriage with his wife, Lucy Urbina, and took immense pride in the lives and accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. His kindness, steady presence, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

An avid outdoorsman, Mario found happiness in the woods and fields, especially during hunting season. He treasured the time spent hunting with family and friends, creating memories and traditions that will live on for generations. His respect for nature and love of the outdoors were an important part of who he was.

Dedicated to the healing professions, Mario earned a Doctorate in Chiropractic and later became a registered nurse. Through these accomplishments, he combined expertise, compassion, and a deep understanding of patient care. Whether treating patients through chiropractic medicine or providing comfort and support as a nurse, Mario touched countless lives with skill, empathy, and genuine concern for the well-being of others.

He is survived by his daughters, Andrea (Eric) Piña Wagner; Cyndy (Jody) Maldonado; Eva (David) Piña-Malbon; his grandchildren, Dan (Alana) Piña, Oscar Piña-Malbon, Augie Maldonado, Isaiah Piña-Rico, Lulu Maldonado, Amelie Rico, and Elijah Piña-Malbon; his brothers Mike (Genoveva), Leonardo (Mary), Robert (Carol), and Alvaro (Teri); and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers, and his sister.
