Marie Antoinette "Toni" Matthews, 75, of Tucson, AZ passed away peacefully on January 19, 2024.  Born in Tucson, AZ on June 7, 1948.  Toni was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lupe Carroll, and brother Timothy Patrick Carroll.  Toni is surived by loving and devoted husband Edward N. Matthews and sons Paul and Jason Matthews; grandchildren Jr. Leflohic (fiancee Cynthia); Vanessa (Mikey) Nixon, Joseph Matthews, Gabriel Matthews and great grandchildren Amelia and Adrian Leflohic-Sendidge and Omari and Carter Nixon, (Ariana and Cristian-Jason).  Toni is also survived by brothers and sisters-Dolores (Michael) Butler, Fred J. Carroll Jr., Lena (Robert) Delgado, Rosella Carroll, Letitia (Pedro) Gonzales, Eileen (Jeff) Irwin, Kathleen Morgan, and many, many nieces and nephews.

Toni was employed by Tucson Unified School District for 29 years and retired from the same organization.  She was well respected at work, making many life-long friends along the way.  During early retirement she attended Pima Community College to add to her great skills as an accomplished seamstress.  She also had much fun playing bingo and taking chances on the slot machines at the local casinos.  She really enjoyed attending the seasonal dances with husband Edward, where they would spend time with many friends from junior high and high schooland dance the night away.

And not to be forgotten, the group of friends she and Edward would meet for lunches and dinners around town at local restaurants.  Those fortunate to have known Toni, would tell you of her kind, easy and selfless manner.  She was often called "Nana" by her beloved grandchildren.  This amazing woman will live on in our hearts and many wonderful memories we all shared.  We love you.  Please check the Carrillos Tucson Mortuary website regarding the memorial service celebrating Toni's great life
