Marie Jenks Sutton, 70, passed away on October 23, 2013. She was born in Tucson on June 26, 1943, the daughter of Randolph Jenks and Julia Post Swan Jenks. Marie was a graduate of Tucson High School and the University of Arizona, where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. Marie met Tom Sutton at the U of A in 1964 when she was a cheerleader and he played basketball. They were married for 46 years. Marie received her Bachelor of Nursing and worked as a Pima County public health nurse and a school nurse. One year, she was chosen as one of the "Fabulous 50" nurses in Tucson during National Nurses Week. Marie loved the Lord, striving to glorify Him in all she did, and was thankful for His love and grace. She loved to be with family and friends, and was grateful for the time she had with them since her colon cancer diagnosis in April 2009. Marie was active in various bible studies, and she enjoyed so much the years she spent as the Children's Supervisor for Bible Study Fellowship. She was a member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America. Marie was predeceased by her parents and she leaves behind her husband, Tom; daughter, Christy (Dray) Sterling; son, Paul Sutton; and three grandchildren who adored their "Mimi" (Christy and Dray's children, Jake and Emma, and Paul's daughter, Madeline). She is also survived by sisters, Josephine (John H. II) Trant and Bertha (Joseph) Reed; brother, Randolph Jenks, Jr. (Shirley), and many beloved nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Marie was cherished by so many and her sweet spirit lives on in our hearts. Marie's family extends many thanks to UMC Cancer Center and UMC Radiation Oncology, as well as to Casa de la Luz Hospice and Synergy Homecare for their kindness and excellent care.
