IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maria L.
Nunez
February 20, 1930 – September 6, 2025
Maria Louisa Nunez, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, at the age of 95. A lifelong resident of Tucson, Arizona, Maria lived a full and vibrant life marked by love, hard work, and devotion to family.
Maria served as Head Cook at the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base Officers Club for 32 years, where her meals warmed countless hearts and her presence lit up the kitchen. Her passion for cooking extended far beyond her work-family gatherings were never complete without her food, her laughter, and her singing.
Maria found joy in the simple pleasures of life: singing, dancing, camping, and above all, spending time with her family. Her proudest achievement was raising her grandchildren, a role she embraced with unwavering love, strength, and grace.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Steven Anthony Perez. She is survived by her devoted daughter Mary Carmen Perez; her brother Guadalupe Nunez; her sister Anita Morales; her cherished grandchildren: Stephanie M. Smith, Mark A. Nunez, Joshua M. Martinez, Ashah M. Martinez, Sage M. Martinez, Zhanae C. Olvera, Syana M. Gonzales; as well as 14 great-grandchildren who will carry her memory forward.
Maria's legacy is one of resilience, generosity, and deep family love. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit lives on in the lives she touched and the family she built.
