“She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.” Proverbs 31.26
It is with deep love and gratitude that we celebrate the life of Maria De Los Angeles M. Madrid, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and neighbor whose kindness touched countless lives.
Maria was born on July 29, 1932, and lived a life rooted in faith, family, compassion, and service to others. She shared more than fifty wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Manuel Z. Madrid. Together they built a loving home and raised four children: Cecilia A. Madrid, Elvia Wright, Rosa E. Newman, and Manuel Madrid, Jr. Their marriage was a beautiful example of commitment, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion.
Nothing brought Maria greater joy than her family. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Peter J. Ramirez, Jimmy Wright, Johanna Lee, Brianna Newman, and Max Newman. Each grandchild held a special place in her heart, and she treasured every opportunity to spend time with them, encourage them, and celebrate their accomplishments
As her family continued to grow, Maria was blessed with great-grandchildren who filled her heart with even greater joy. She lovingly welcomed and cherished Julien Ramirez, Jaelyn Wright, Jesse Ramirez, Brysen Madrid, Maleah Madrid, Maddoc McCutcheon, Mariah Ramirez, James Wright IV, John Lee, and Ella Lee. Each child received the warmth, affection, and unconditional love that only a grandmother can give. Her legacy lives on through them and the values she instilled in every generation.
Maria's love language was simple and heartfelt: she nourished others. Whether through her comforting words, gentle guidance, warm embrace, or the delicious homemade meals she prepared, she made everyone feel welcomed, valued, and loved. Her kitchen was often the center of family gatherings, where stories were shared, laughter filled the room, and lifelong memories were created around her table.
Her kindness extended far beyond her immediate family. Maria treasured her church community and neighborhood friends, developing lasting relationships built on mutual care, faith, and friendship. She had a gift for making everyone feel like family. The family would also like to extend special gratitude and recognition to the Lopez family, who became cherished members of Maria's extended family and who shared in her life with love and devotion
Maria's generosity touched the lives of countless neighbors and friends. Over the years, many of the children in her neighborhood came to see her as a grandmother figure, drawn to her warmth, wisdom, and welcoming spirit. She offered kindness without hesitation and love without conditions.
Though our hearts are heavy with her passing, we take comfort in knowing that her life was rich with purpose, faith, and love. The lessons she taught, the traditions she created, and the love she shared will continue to guide her family for generations to come.
Maria is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, church family, and many dear friends whose lives were forever blessed by her presence.
May we honor her memory by living with the same compassion, generosity, faith, and love that she demonstrated every day of her remarkable life.
"Well done, good and faithful servant."
