María Antonieta Cázares Félix was called home to our Lord on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, in the comfort of her home while surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born on June 13, 1933, in Buena Vista, Sonora, to her loving parents, Antonio and Guadalupe Cázares.  The youngest of 6 children, she spent a large portion of her young life in Cananea, Sonora.  She had so many fond memories of her younger years. She greatly enjoyed the dances at the plaza or going to the movie theatre with friends. As an adolescent, she worked at a local clinic as a labor and delivery assistant.  Her greatest inspiration was her mother, a woman that epitomized positivity, respect, grace, and affection. María Antonieta was a reflection of her mother as she too was kind-hearted, accepting, positive, and jovial. All those that knew her were captivated by the sparkle in her beautiful green eyes.

On August 16, 1952, she married the love of her life, Eduardo O. Félix, which was the beginning of a 71-year-old love story. Together, they set off on an exciting journey to the United States and settled in Tucson, AZ, to raise their family.

María Antonieta was a remarkable wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a wonderful combination of warmth, kindness, laughter, and love. One way she expressed her love was through her delicious cooking. For decades, the aroma of homemade tortillas or semita bread filled her home. Unsurprisingly, neighborhood friends would stop by for a chance to try her buttery tortillas. María Antonieta welcomed everyone with open arms.  She was an attentive listener and an unparalleled storyteller, and she enjoyed reminiscing about her younger years with anyone who would listen.

Nana Toñieta cherished her grandchildren and always made them feel valued, accepted, and unconditionally loved.  Building a deep emotional connection with her grandchildren was extremely important to her. Thank you, Nana Toñieta, for all the life lessons you taught us and guidance you shared. We love you and will miss you always.

María Antonieta is survived by her beloved husband, Eduardo O. Félix, and their six children: Eduardo, Oscar, Lupita (George), Mario, Rene (Angelica), and Lorena (Craig). She is also survived by her 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and her brother, Ernesto Cázares. She was a spiritual woman who lived a rich and fulfilled life. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. May her soul find eternal peace and may her memory be a blessing to us all.

The Félix family conveys their appreciation to Dr. Arthur Menezes and Ingrid McCrory for the love, dedication, and care they gave our mother. We know she thought the world of you, and we do too.

María Antonieta Cázares Félix fue llamada a casa de nuestro Señor el miércoles 22 de noviembre de 2023, en la comodidad de su hogar y rodeada de sus seres queridos.

Nació el 13 de junio de 1933 en Buena Vista, Sonora, México, de sus amorosos padres, Antonio y Guadalupe Cázares. La menor de 6 hermanos, pasó gran parte de su joven vida en Cananea, Sonora. Tenía tantos buenos recuerdos de su juventud. Disfrutaba mucho los bailes en la plaza o ir al cine con amigos. Cuando era adolescente, trabajó en una clínica local como asistente de parto. Su mayor inspiración fue su madre, una mujer que personificaba la positividad, el respeto, la gracia y el afecto. María Antonieta era un reflejo de su madre ya que ella también era bondadosa, tolerante, positiva y jovial. Todos los que la conocieron quedaron cautivados por el brillo de sus hermosos ojos verdes.

El 16 de agosto de 1952 se casó con el amor de su vida, Eduardo O. Félix, lo que fue el comienzo de una historia de amor de 71 años. Juntos, emprendieron un emocionante viaje a los Estados Unidos y se establecieron en Tucson, AZ, para criar a su familia.

María Antonieta fue una esposa, madre y abuela extraordinaria. Era una combinación maravillosa de calidez, amabilidad, risa y amor. Una forma en que expresó su amor fue a través de su deliciosa cocina. Durante décadas, el aroma de las tortillas caseras o del pan semita llenó su hogar. Como era de esperar, los amigos del vecindario pasarían por allí para probar sus tortillas con mantequilla. María Antonieta recibió a todos con los brazos abiertos. Era una oyente atenta y una narradora incomparable, y disfrutaba recordar sus años de juventud con cualquiera que quisiera escucharla.

Nana Toñieta quiso mucho a sus nietos y siempre los hizo sentir valorados, aceptados y amados incondicionalmente. Para ella era extremadamente importante establecer una conexión emocional profunda con sus nietos. Gracias, Nana Toñieta, por todas las lecciones de vida que nos enseñaste y la guía que compartiste. Te amamos y te extrañaremos siempre.

A María Antonieta le sobreviven su amado esposo, Eduardo O. Félix, y sus seis hijos: Eduardo, Oscar, Lupita (George), Mario, René (Angélica) y Lorena (Craig). También le sobreviven sus 16 nietos, 8 bisnietos y su hermano, Ernesto Cázares. Fue una mujer espiritual que vivió una vida rica y plena. Su familia, amigos y todos los que tuvieron el placer de conocerla la extrañarán profundamente. Que su alma encuentre la paz eterna y que su memoria sea de bendición para todos nosotros.
