IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maria
Faith
May 26, 1930 – February 6, 2025
Maria Faith passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on February 6, 2025. Born in Tucson, Arizona, on May 26, 1930, Maria resided in Tucson for the entirety of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-five years, Shirley I. Faith. In addition to her husband, Maria was predeceased by her parents, Josefa Acosta, née Garcia, and Luis Mendoza Acosta, and her sisters, Armida (Roy) Vasquez and Dolores (Simon) Carranza.
Maria is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Guy Kelly, and her grandchildren, Kevin (Rachel) Kelly and Joshua Kelly. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Luis and Erna Acosta, her stepdaughter, Rebekah (Lawrence) Hodge, and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Maria enjoyed a long career as the Tucson office manager of an international electrical construction company. In post-retirement years, Maria worked in social services. She felt purpose and passion in her career and in later work, and treasured friendships from those years.
In addition to work friends, Maria enjoyed lifelong friendships from childhood, high school, current and former neighbors, and her family’s friends. A wonderful friend herself, she was blessed with many beautiful friendships that were a constant joy in her life.
Most true to her heart, Maria’s family was everything to her. She was incredibly loving and supportive and found joy in each of her relationships with her immediate and extended family members. She looked forward to visits and calls with loved ones and enjoyed every family celebration. She also valued quieter times of empathizing with and supporting a family member in need. Maria had a gift of sincere compassion and listened with love and care. Above all, Maria cherished and lived her deep and abiding devotion to her faith, each day of her life.
We faithfully trust that our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, godmother, aunt, cousin, and friend is now held by our Heavenly Father and blessed in eternal life. We will forever remember the many ways she touched our lives with her loving care and gentle kindness.
In lieu of flowers, Maria’s family is grateful for contributions in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Pima Animal Care Center.
