Our beloved mother, grandmother and sister, Maria Elena Gonzales passed away unexpectedly on May 1st, 2024. She was born on July 12th, 1936 in Tucson, Arizona.

Nena (as her family knew her) was precede in death by her parents, Carmen Martinez and Victor Benitez; her children, Francisco, Rosemary and Alfonso; brothers, George Benitez and sister, Rachel Romo. She is survived by her sisters, Lydia (Faustino) Sanders and Cecilia (Ford) Valencia; children, Emilio (Rachel) Gonzales, Joe (Yolanda) Gonzales, Sally Norzagaray, and Pat (Patsy) Gonzales. She was extremely proud of her 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was a loving Tia, cousin to many, and friend to many.

Maria Elena retired from Hughes Aircraft. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Her entertainment of choice was playing Cadillac and her trips to the casino. Many knew her for her musical talents and her love for dancing.

She will always be in our hearts.
