Margarita B.
Hoyos
November 10, 1939 – March 19, 2026
Our beautiful and beloved mother, Margarita Ballesteros Hoyos, went to be with our Lord, on March 19, 2026. She passed away peacefully, at her home, in the company of her family.
Margarita was born on November 10, 1939, in Cumpas, Sonora, Mexico. Her parents, Tomas and Rosenda Ballesteros welcomed her into their family, along with her older brother, Luis Alejo Ballesteros Cuen. She was raised by hardworking parents, who adored their children and taught them to be humble, kind and respectful. Her mother was a seamstress and made sure to teach her daughter to be creative, and skilled, as well. Margarita’s father was a determined, hard working man who taught her to be inquisitive and imparted as much knowledge as possible to both of his children. She came from a humble home which laid the foundation for establishing her own family.
On December 26, 1959, Margarita Ballesteros Cuen married Francisco Adams Hoyos, in their hometown of Cumpas, Sonora, Mexico. They made their home for 62 years of marriage, in Tucson, Arizona. There they raised their four children and served their church and community throughout their lives together. They were able to travel around the country and the world to visit family and be with friends where they collected and brought home special memories and mementos. Our mother always remembered her experiences and delighted in spending time with others recounting all that she had seen and learned.
Margarita lived a life defined by love, warmth, generosity, an unwavering faith in God and a strong devotion to the Catholic faith. She was prayerful and loved studying the lives of the Saints. Her greatest strengths included her ability to pray earnestly for everyone she loved and even those she had never met. She had the most amazing mind and memory and was our family historian. Many family members and friends knew that she was the one to go to for family history.
Our parents planted and cared for many flowers and fruit trees in their beautiful garden. They dedicated many hours together ensuring that their garden blossomed and was fruitful.
Her kitchen was always filled with the comforting aroma of home cooking that nourished many family members, neighbors and friends.
One of the greatest parts of her life was her pure dedication to her family and friends. She raised her own children, helped to raise grandchildren and was a wonderful caregiver for many children, who remained a part of her heart and life.
She was preceded in death by her parents Tomas and Rosenda Ballesteros, her husband, Francisco Adams Hoyos, and her brother Luis Ballesteros Cuen.
Margarita was respected, honored and cherished by her children,
Rafael B. Hoyos (Linnea), Ana Irene Mosca, Margaret Hoyos-Moreno (Marcos), Sylvia Hoyos Yebra and 11 grandchildren - Meghan (Jason), Brenton (Katie), Garrett (Marlie), Giselle (Jacob), Danyelle, Marcos (Melissa), Mia, Christiana, Carina (Deonte), Joseph, Rachel (Kevin) and 19 great-grandchildren and many Godchildren that she cherished.
We will miss her so very much each day May she rest in God’s eternal peace and may perpetual light shine upon her.
