IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Manuel L.
Vargas
January 12, 1930 – September 9, 2024
Manuel Vargas transitioned peacefully to our Lord on Monday September 9, 2024 at sunrise with his son Tito at his side. Manuel was born a twin to a girl who unfortunately passed at birth to Vicente and Librada (Lavander) Vargas on January 12, 1930. He attended Bisbee schools and after graduation enlisted in the army where he served the Korean War and was awarded a Japan Army occupation Medal, Korean Service Medal as well as a Good Conduct Medal. Upon his completion to our country on August, 1951 he returned home to Bisbee and during a trip to visit relatives in Mexico he met his future wife Carmen Boubion. They married on October 2, 1953 and raised six children. They were married for 63 years until her death February 26, 2016. Manuel first worked at Ft. Huachuca as a grounds keeper but then took a job with Phelps Dodge (now Freeport McMoRan) working as a mill operator. When mining stopped in Bisbee he and other miners were transferred to Morenci Az where he retired in 1992 and moved to Tucson AZ where he took a job with Tucson Unified School working in the kitchen and retiring to enjoy life. Manuel was a generous, kind, considerate, funny and religious man who always had concern for family and friends. Manuel is preceded in death by his wife Carmen (2016) son Javier (Korg 2018) daughter Yoli (2021) grandchildren Marcos (2019) Francisco (Cisco 2022) Angelica (2024) and only sibling Arturo (2022). Survived by children Nellie (Armando) Armando (Nancy) Alicia and Vicente (Tito), who cared for our father the last seven years; 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren and only niece and nephew Lupita and Art. Many in laws, nieces and nephews from his wife's side of the family. We thank the V.A hospital, Emblem Hospice and Carrillo Mortuary for all they have done during this difficult time. Rosary, mass and burial with military honors to be held at Bisbee AZ at a future date. Rest in peace. You will be missed.
