Manuel Santos Munguia, El Maestro, El Musico or affectionately known by his students as "Mr. Munguia" and just "Munguia", passed away on October 5, 2022. He was 85 years old. He is predeceased by his parents Henry and Mary (Zazueta) Munguia, brother Ruben L. Munguia, three grandchildren, Donna Gill, Oscar Gill, Francisco "Cisco" Munguia Daughter In-law Diane Munguia and former spouse Anna D. Munguia. Survived by Son Manuel "Bear" Munguia, daughters Donna (Eddie) Rivas and Patricia Munguia. Grandchildren Manny Jr. (Stacey) Munguia, Alberto (Amy) Munguia, Amber Quintero, Angelo Munguia (Angela) Munguia. and seven great grandchildren, Ruben, Celeste and "Yoyo", Isaac, Rene, Raul and Raphael. Siblings, Henry (Elvira) Munguia, Olga Garza, Gloria (Martin) Martinez, Ray (Isabel) Munguia, Rosemary Munguia and many nieces, nephews and cousins and a longtime friend and former spouse Connie Capitano.

A Native Tucsonan, he was born on Cushing Street in Barrio Viejo on November 1,1937. He attended Drachmen Elementary, Safford Jr. High and the "Home of the Badgers" Tucson High School's. He attended the University of Arizona and Graduated with Honors and Masters Degree in Education. He taught at Safford, Carson, Naylor Jr. High's and Tucson High School. He was a member of the NEA, TEA and SAAMAE. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1955 and served for ten years. He was a Life member of the Tucson Detachment Marine Corps League 007 and American Legion Saguaro Post 68. He was an accomplished musician and played in a local band "El Grupo".

Dad, you hit the ground running and lived a long accomplished life. Time to stand down. You will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace.
