IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lupe Maria
Lopez
March 15, 1931 – December 25, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Guadalupe Maria Lopez also known as Lupe Lopez, who left us on December 25, 2024, at the age of 93. Lupe was born on March 15, 1931 in Leon Guanajuato, Mexico to her father Policarpio Hernandez and mother Maria Ramirez.
After a short time in Nogales, Mexico the family moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1962.
Lupe was a devoted wife to husband Benjamin G. Lopez for 19yrs and had 9 children Juanita Hurt (Richard), Socorro Gastelum (Jesse), Christina Espinosa (Michael), Toni Miranda (Fred), Larry Lopez (Regina), Maria Lourdes Lucero (Joseph), Benjamin Lopez (Rebecca), Claire Lucero (Robert), Sandra Amador and adopted daughter Isabel Mena (Manny). She had 31 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
Lupe was a dedicated parishioner at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque and was involved with the Guadalupanas, Sacred Heart Society, Prayer group, lay Carmelite, a catechist teacher, Eucharist minister, home bound ministry, and for many years at the fiesta making gorditas. She always jumped in with her beautiful voice to lead the songs for posadas and rosaries. She was always dedicated in offering flowers to our lady in May.
She taught us all the importance of family, the power of hard work, and the joy of passionately loving Jesus Christ by encouraging us to go to church and learn the faith she learned to love.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Benjamin G. Lopez, Richard Hurt, Elisa Sotelo, Michael Espinosa, Saul Sotelo Jr., Robert Plummer, Benjamin Sotelo, Athanasius Curran, Carlos J. Lopez.
As we say Goodbye to this incredible woman, we take comfort in her legacy of faith and love that will continue to guide us.
We ask you to continue to pray for us as a family and in lieu of flowers please make a donation to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque church.
