IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Luis R.
Mariscal
August 25, 1949 – October 10, 2024
Luis R Mariscal
08/25/1949 - 10/10/2024
Luis Mariscal, age 75, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2024, with his loving wife Joann and sister, Gloria at his side.
Luis was a Tucson native born to Filiberto and Consuelo Mariscal.
His careers varied during his life. He prepared apartments for rent, was the Physical Director at Southside YMCA, Police Officer for the City of Tucson and retired from Sasol with 10 plus years of service.
After retirement he and Joann became full-time caregivers for Mom, Mary. He was very supportive and always ready to help Joann.
His greatest enjoyment came from honey do's. Additionally, he felt satisfaction and pride in helping family, friends and neighbors.
With Wife, Joann by his side, Luis fiercely battled cancer for over five short months. He wanted to get better so that he could fulfill his dream of traveling with Joann to Alaska, Oregon and Washington, DC. Now their plans and dreams will have to wait until they meet again.
Luis was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Martha Hammond and Celia Fatke. Godson, Michael Montijo, Godson Emilio Espinosa, Father-in-law, Jose "Wilo" Romero, and brother-in-law James "Jimmy" Romero.
Survived by his wife of 56 years, Joann, sister Gloria Bojorquez (David), mother-in-law Mary V. Romero, sister-in-law Mary (Lisa) Romero, brothers-in-law Ralph (Debi) Romero and Jose (Clare) Romero. Many nieces, nephews and Godchildren.
The family would like to extend their thanks to:
Sister Mary (Lisa) who placed her life on hold for us.
Godson Stefen, for giving Nino his last massage and supporting Nina.
Our family members who cared enough to spend time with him during his last days. Our wingless ANGELS Margie and Rudy, Rosie and Jim, Jan, Dora, Albert and Socorro. Our Friends who visited, called him and sent cards and food during his illness. Godson, Juan and wife Ana for bringing him communion. Monsignor Treviso, Deacon Negrete for their visits. Goddaughter Valerie for visits, cookies and ice cream. Our friend Dorothy, for being there for Joann and providing guidance and continued support. To Dr K and the awesome nurses and staff at Arizona Blood and Cancer in Green Valley. Soulistic Hospice nurses and aide.
"There is Joy and Comfort in knowing that my heart will always be a place where I can Love you, hold you and keep you near to me always."
