Louie Romero Jr., age 75, passed away on Monday November 22, 2021 from congestive heart failure after a long battle with end-stage renal disease, with his loving wife Edith and daughter Vicky at his side.

Louie was born on December 7, 1945 in Tucson, Arizona to Luis and Soledad Romero. Louie graduated from Tucson High in 1964, and then enlisted in the US Air Force. He trained at Schofield Barracks in Honolulu, Hawaii prior to his deployment to Vietnam from 1967 to 1968, where he proudly served his country with the 1041st Combat Security Police Squadron "Operation SAFESIDE".

After 4-years of service with the USAF, he started his first job at Tucson Electric Power Company where he retired after 35+ years.

Louie also served as a district commander for the American Legion and as an officer of the Cocio Estrada Post 59 in Tucson, Arizona, where you would often find him surrounded by many of his dearest friends. He always looked forward to attending the annual reunions with his 1041st squadron, whom he spoke of fondly and considered them his brothers.

Louie was preceded in death by his son George Romero, and parents Luis and Soledad Romero. He is survived by his wife, Edith Romero of Tucson; sons Louis Romero III (Diana) of Whittier, California, Philip Romero; and daughters Annamarie Tellez (Michael), Elizabeth Merzthal (Nelson), and Vicky Gonzalez, of Tucson; his siblings Lazaro Romero (Carol), Lucrecia Quiroz (Robert), Estevan Romero (Cecilia); and many grandchildren including Jasmine Mendez (Vicky), Elaina, Christina, and Adam Tellez (Annamarie and Michael), Ella Romero (Louis and Diana), and Philip, Dayton, and Crystal Romero (Philip); and many nieces and nephews.
