Louis Salgado Gasca , a beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2024, surrounded by his family and holding onto the hands of his two children. Louis was born on September 27, 1940, in Tucson, AZ, where he remained throughout his life.
Military and Career: Louie honorably served in the United States Army. Following his military service, he found a job he enjoyed and excelled at with the US Agricultural Department's Carl B Hayden Bee Research Lab in Tucson. His dedication and hard work spanned over 34 years until his well-deserved retirement.
Personal Life and Hobbies: "Lou" was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed every moment spent outdoors. When he wasn't hunting or fishing, he could be found prospecting with friends, digging in the dirt in search of treasures. He was an active member of The Gold Diggers and The Gold Prospectors of Tucson, where he made lasting friendships. Additionally, Louie cherished his time at the Chinese Cultural Center in Tucson, where he built many memories and friendships.
Family and Legacy: Louis leaves behind a legacy of hard work, determination, and love. He is survived by his two children, son Louis S. Gasca, Jr (Tina) and daughter Deborah M. Lovio (Manny). He is also survived by his five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory and honor his legacy. Louis was preceded in death by his mother, Ana Luz Gasca.
Memorial Service: A funeral Mass will be held on November 20, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, located at 8650 North Shannon Road, Tucson, AZ. The rosary will begin at 10:30 am, followed by Mass at 11:00 am, and interment will take place at Holy Hope Cemetery, located at 3555 N Oracle Rd, Tucson, AZ. A reception will follow.
