Dear Friends and Relatives,

Sadly, my sister Lorraine Knight passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024.

Lorraine had been living at Via Elegante Nursing Home in Tucson for about a year-and-a-half. She was doing well there until she was taken to St. Mary's Hospital for a rather routine, but necessary, procedure. The pain she was experiencing and the need to be transported to the hospital, the anesthesia along with the procedure itself left her in a vegetative condition.

Sara and Raymond Woyak kept an almost constant vigil. My niece, Debra Letgrate (nee Muench) and I drove to Tucson where we joined the bedside vigil with Raymond and Sara for three days. Lorraine seemingly never regained consciousness; she could not speak, open her eyes, or eat. The Last Rites of the Roman Catholic church was administered to her.

Lorraine's ashes will be placed alongside those of her beloved husband at All Faith Cemetery, 2151 S. Avenida Los Reyes in Tucson. (Note: My father is buried nearby.)

You are invited to attend a grave-site service for the burial on Monday, September 16th at 10:30 am (Arizona time)

An informal reunion and memorial will be held at the Best Western Royal Sun Inn and Suites, 1015 N. Stone Ave. beginning at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 15th.

Family get-togethers were always part of Lorraine's story, and I know she will be looking down on us to share our memories and joys. It may not be a big fancy white tablecloth dinner, but more along the lines of iced tea, beer, wine, gin, and pizza. The hotel has an outdoor pool. The important thing is that we can share memories and pictures of Lorraine, as we get together for the last time.
