Leova "Nana" Jacobs Carrasco was on born November 19, 1940, and resided in Tucson, Arizona her entire life. She attended Immaculate Heart Academy from 1st through 12th grade, and attended the University of Arizona. She also belonged to the Future Catholic Leaders. She loved dancing, especially mambos and the Jitterbug. She loved walking at Reid Park with her work friends and enjoyed gardening. She had an infectious laugh with an amazing sense of humor, and loved telling jokes. Her favorite color was red, and other than her family, Winnie the Pooh and Shrek's Donkey were her favorite "nonitos."
Her first job was working at the Southern Arizona bank as a bookkeeper in the 1960s with some of her best and lifelong friends. She and Leonard married in 1964 and after they raised their two girls, she worked for Tucson Unified School District in various roles. She was a Spanish teaching assistant that traveled to schools with the Juan, Maria y Pepe program. She also worked at Julia Keen as a teacher's assistant and proceeded to C.E. Rose as an instructional specialist. She loved working with children.
She struggled with her health especially in the last decade of her life. She survived colon cancer, back surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. However, during the last years of her life, dementia took its toll on her and she was placed in a memory care home at The Villas. The staff took very good care of her and with the help of Bristol Hospice, her devoted and dedicated husband, and loving family she passed away peacefully on January 31, 2023 at the age of 82. She is preceded in death by her mother, Carlota, father, Benjamin, and sister, Leova Yolanda. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Leonard; children, Bella and Charlotte (Abel); grandchildren: Sonya (Juan), Leo (Emily), Anthony, Priscilla (Michael), Abel Jr; and great-grandchildren, Maximus J.,Arianna, Andrea, and L. Samson. She is also survived by her siblings, Benjamin (Bette), Yolanda (her twin sister), Michael, and Evelyn; cousins, nieces and nephews, and many great friends.
