IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathleen A.
Carter
August 26, 1955 – March 31, 2023
Kathleen (Tobin) Carter, age 67, of Tucson, Arizona passed away peacefully on March 31, 2023. Kathy was born to Edward and Patricia Tobin of Springfield, Illinois where she lived until the family relocated to Arizona in 1971.
Kathy married her beloved husband, Donald Carter, who was not only her partner but later her gracious and faithful caretaker due to her declining health. Don fulfilled the calling of "Husbands, love your wives, as Christ also loved the Church" with great sincerity and faithfulness.
Kathy was an incredibly devoted daughter to her mother Patty and attended all of her mother's medical appointments to provide support and encouragement. Her mother referred to her as her "Laffy" because even in the worst situations, Kathy's compassion and her relentless sense of humor brought comfort, and Kathy could always make her laugh. Kathy unselfishly extended the gift of her presence to any loved one in need, including her dear friend, Sonya, and her beloved mother-in-law, Mary.
She had previously been employed at Kino Hospital where she enjoyed working in the medical field, and more importantly, where she was blessed with many life-long friends. Her world was filled with many precious friendships, some decades long and others newly formed. Work relationships became family to her. She cherished the Nellie and Eddie Morales family, Sonya, Yvonne, Shelly and their entire families over many years.
Kathy was a person of many interests, most of which revolved around others. She truly enjoyed giving gifts and making others feel special. Never having children of her own, she poured into her nieces and nephews, as well as her great nieces and great nephews. Kathy made sure that everyone knew how much she loved them ….. and they'd better not forget it! Her siblings and family will always hold dearly to the memories of her sincere love and care for every detail of their lives. She will be missed more deeply than words can say.
Kathy was a genealogy sleuth, with the help of her dear friend, Kay. She was passionate about digging deep into her family roots because family meant everything to her. Among the many simple joys of life, she loved trivia, playing dice games and cards with much gusto, and perhaps most of all music – Country music being her favorite – and she always sang her heart out! She was a aficionado of the freshest perfume scents and the consummate cook, especially when it came to the best Mexican buffet anywhere. She would be in the kitchen for days to make a special spread for a friend or family member's special occasion. Preparing meals for others gave Kathy immense pleasure.
She was appreciative of all the love and care others gave to her. She also invested in those who provided that care, and took a genuine interest in their lives. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Paulina from Hangar Clinic, and Peppi's House Inpatient Hospice for their part in giving Kathy such tender loving care.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her devoted husband, Don Carter, stepson Nick, as well as her siblings Sharon Callahan (Robert), Nancy Netherton (Phil), Ed Tobin, Jacqui Tobin, Tim Tobin and Colin Tobin. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews. Kathy is also survived by her treasured Aunt Sheila (Tobin) Little and her cousins Greg Little, Karen Dembrowski, and Glenn Jensen.
The family will hold a private "Celebration of Life and Memorial Service" on April 23rd. She will be laid to rest at Arizona Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Marana, Arizona on April 24th. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Peppi's House Inpatient Hospice.
Checks may be mailed to:

Kathy's legacy will carry on as we remind ourselves, as Kathy did, to find something to be grateful for every day. Kathy did not want to leave this life, her husband, her family or friends, but she loved Jesus and had faith that she was leaving into His presence.
