Judith Ann
Carpenter
October 11, 1936 – November 2, 2021
Judith Ann Carpenter (Judy) passed away in Tucson, AZ on November 2, 2021 at the age of 85.
Judy leaves behind her children, William "Bill" Allen and wife Anni, Cynthia "Cindy" Shaw and husband David, Ronda Arce, and Randy Carpenter and wife Janice, and her sister Joan Barnes. She is predeceased by her parents and sister Sharon (Mike) Miller.
She will be forever remembered as Grandma JuJu by Karie (Ryan) Shook, Wendy (Allen) Hauser, Clint Allen, Lisa (Mark) Mariani, Daniel Shaw, Jamie (Kirby) Overstreet, Phaedra (Tommy) Grate, Tamara Way, Cameron (Jessica) Davenport, Janet (David) Harris, Darryl Carpenter, Vicky (Ty) Sutherland, Brian (Shay) Carpenter, Elizabeth Carpenter, Aubre (Chris) Cottrell, Jessica (Brady) Kaiser, and Andrew Carpenter; as well as 32 great grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren. All of these were affectionately referred to as George, sometimes Georgette, by Grandma JuJu, and George will always be her favorite.
She also leaves behind loved nieces Debbie (Norm) Farrington, Ann Miller Meyer, Cheryl (Steve) Rebik, and Maria Rice.
Born in Algona, Iowa, the daughter of William and Geneva Steil, and one of 3 daughters, her family moved to Denver, CO where she graduated from high school. She landed in Tucson after traveling the states as a military wife. She worked for the Davis Monthan BX in 1971, moved to the Commissary in 1973, and finished her civil service career at AMARC after 28 years.
Judy never met a stranger. She was a surrogate mom, grandma, sister or aunt to everyone. She loved one and all unconditionally. Her super power was making everyone feel like you were her favorite (son/daughter, grandchild, son/daughter-in law, friend). She loved her roses and backyard flowers, traveling, going to the movies, taking the children and grandchildren on adventures (where we were never lost as long as we had gas in the car) and playing cards and games with family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future time to be determined.
