IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph Wardwell
Petroshus
May 15, 1969 – March 28, 2023
It is with heavy heart we announce the sudden and unexpected death of Joseph W. Petroshus (5/15/69-3/28/23). Joe was born in Chicago Ill. and raised in Tucson AZ.
From a young age Joe was infatuated with all things military, so Joe joined the Scouts, but he found the uniform lacking and joined the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets. Joe qualified for a national boot camp one summer and while there he was awarded cadet for the year. When the admiral called to talk to his mother regarding the award, his brothers were sure he had done something terrible, with an admiral calling for their mother! They could not have been more wrong.
Joe briefly attended high school at Salpointe Catholic but transferred to his beloved Tucson High. Joe lettered in football and was quite active in school spirit. He attended most of the major sporting events for the school and participated in assemblies. He was given the Dave Bell spirit award for his efforts and enthusiasm. Joe loved his school and the friends he made that he tried to keep his whole life.
After high school Joe entered college at the University of Arizona, but it was not quite right for him so he followed his lifelong dream with the military and joined the U.S. Army. He spent the first part of his career with the army and he deployed as part of Operation Just Cause, Joe reenlisted but this time with the USAF. The end of his military career would bring him home to serve out his final year at Davis-Monthan. Joe was home. During his military career he was associated with all three major branches of the military. He was very proud of that.
Joe worked in the computer industry after the military and loved to help his family and friends with computer problems.
Joe is survived by sons Alexander and Tim, mother Cheryl, brothers John (Theresa) and Jeremy (Leah) one niece and two grandchildren, as well as 2 ex wives, step children, countless cousins, aunts and uncles, extended family and lifelong freinds. He will be buried with full military honors at the Marana AZ military cemetery on 4/04/23 9am in a private family and close friends only service. There are no other plans and friends are encouraged to celebrate Joes life as they wish. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Joes name to Casa de los Ninos.
