IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph "Joe"
Mortimer
April 19, 1951 – January 14, 2026
With sorrowful hearts, we announce the passing of Joseph "Joe" Mortimer, 74, of Tucson, Arizona, who left us on January 14, 2026.
Joe was a man of many talents, and he approached his hobbies with dedication and passion. An avid guitar player, he loved to sing and perform—whether for himself, in church alongside his wife, or with the various bands he played with throughout the years. Joe especially loved blues music, which always spoke to his soul. He enjoyed maintaining his vehicles, especially his project trucks and motorcycles. Joe cherished his time spent hunting, often escaping into the outdoors with his brother and close friends. Later in life, he found joy in joining a ham radio community, where he connected with others who shared his interests
Joe devoted 30 years to the mining industry, ultimately completing his career as Health & Safety Director. He earned his master's and achieved many respected accomplishments throughout his profession. His ability to connect with people, to form quick and genuine friendships, was truly unique and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Above all, Joe took great pride in his family with his beautiful wife, Margie, together for 58 years, married 52 years. Loved his three children, and he held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and great‑grandchildren. Joe's humorous presence, warmth, and generosity will be profoundly missed.
Joseph is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Mortimer; father, Joseph Mortimer; granddaughter, Angel; great-grandson, Shepherd.
He is survived by his wife Margarita "Margie" Mortimer; brother, George Mortimer (Catherine Crandall); three children, Tara Mortimer (John Brooks), Erina Mortimer (Monica Barrio), and Steven Mortimer; three grandsons, Richard Silva (Hannah Silva), Anthony Silva, and John Clay; and two great-grandchildren, Rocky and Vallie; He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Joe has many family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
